led Nazareth's balanced attack as he recorded
14 kills Tuesday night to help the Golden Flyers
defeat Medaille. Nazareth, who came into the match
ranked eighth nationally, defeated the Mavericks,
who came into the match ranked 12th in three games
-- 30-23, 30-16, 32-30.
With the victory, host Nazareth improved to 8-3
overall and 5-0 in the North East Collegiate Volleyball
Association. Medaille fell to 5-7 overall and
2-2 in conference play.
In Tuesday's match, Nazareth used an amazing
.591 team hitting percentage to prevail. Maving
had an overall percentage of .524. Sophomore Joe
Petzoldt added nine kills for Nazareth while sophomore
setter Frank Leahy had 32 assists, and sophomore
Chris DeHority recorded eight digs.
The Golden Flyers host the Nazareth Tournament
beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, February 9. Nazareth
plays against Ramapo in the first match then the
Golden Flyers will play Eastern Mennonite at 6
p.m. The tournament continues Saturday as Nazareth
will play Vassar at 10 a.m. then the top four
teams from pool play will play at 2 p.m. and 4
p.m. Saturday afternoon.
