MAVING MAKES ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
Junior leads Golden Flyers to 23-7 record in men's volleyball

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 9, 2007) -- Tom Maving, a junior outside hitter on the Nazareth men's volleyball team, has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Division III All-American team.

The selections were made by the AVCA Division III Men's Volleyball All-America Committee: chairperson Charlie Sullivan (Springfield); Tim Byram (Endicott); Keith Koch (Medaille); LJ Marx (Carthage); and Patrick Dorywalski (Stevens).

A native of Tonawanda, N.Y. and a graduate of Canisius High School, the 6-foot-1 Maving was a second-team selection after leading the Golden Flyers in kills with 369 (3.65 per game). He also finished with an excellent .341 hitting percentage. He also finished the season with 29 service aces, 125 digs and 56 blocks.

Twice during the 2007 season, Maving was recognized as the Division III National Player of the Week. He helped Nazareth to a 23-7 overall record in just the Golden Flyers' third season of intercollegiate play. Nazareth reached the semifinals of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association tournament.

Other honors for Maving in '07 included selection as Most Valuable Player at the Nazareth Tournament and the Endicott March Mania Tournament. He was an all-tournament team selection for the Stevens Invitational and the NECVA championship.

A first-team NECVA West Division all-star, Maving is Nazareth's first men's volleyball All-American.
