ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (April 18, 2007) -- The weather finally cooperated
for the Nazareth track and field teams to resume
their seasons at the Alumni Invitational Wednesday
at the University of Rochester's Fauver Stadium.
No team scoring was kept, but the Golden Flyers
had some strong individual performances, noteably
by junior Nick Stenuf, who broke his own Nazareth
outdoor mark in the 1,500-meter run with a first-place
time of 3:57.14.
Nazareth also got first-place finishes from sophomore
Brandon Wheeler in the 400-meter dash (:49.52)
and from sophomore Robby Castor (pictured) in
the 800-meter run (1:58.52). Wheeler also placed
second in the 400-meter hurdles (:59.29) and freshman
Matt Case placed sixth and eighth respectively
in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
In the women's meet, freshman Jenna Porter set
records in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
She placed third in both events with times of
:13.26 and :27.27.
Sophomore Lauren Glaser was third in the 400-meter
dash (1:01.19); junior Jessica Brown was eighth
in the 800-meter run (2:30.92) and freshman Melissa
Cutcliffe was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles
(:17.90).
In the field events, freshman Jill Egmond placed
fifth in the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 1/4 inches
and Cutcliffe was second in the long jump at 15
feet, 11 1/2 inches.
