STENUF WINS 800m AT UB MEET

BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 21, 2007) -- Junior Nick Stenuf turned in his best performance of the spring track and field season Saturday as he finished first in the 800-meter run at the UB Open at UB Stadium.

Stenuf, who holds school records in the 800 both indoor and outdoor, posted a time of 1:53.11 to lead Nazareth to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.

Sophomore Brandon Wheeler also finished first for Nazareth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.99 seconds. Other top efforts were turned in by freshman Jon Qazi, who was fifth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.74 and 23.56 respectively; sophomore Robby Castor, who was third in the 400-meter hurdles (:56.51); and freshman Jeremy Chapline, who finished 10th in the shot put with a toss of 11.90 meters.

In the women's meet, Nazareth also placed fourth in the team standings after setting several school records. Sophomore Lauren Glaser set a record in the 800-meter run with a second-place time of 2:20.31. Freshman Jenna Porter set records in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She was second in the 100 (:13.21) and fifth in the 200 (:27.21).

Junior Ashley Hughes broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run (19:04.43) as she placed sixth; freshman Jill Egmond set a record in the pole vault (2.75 meters); and freshman Melissa Cutcliffe broke the long jump mark (4.78 meters).

Junior Jessica Brown was about two seconds shy of her own record in ther 1,500-meter run, but she still placed second in 4:54.75. Junior Meredith Coon finished fifth in the hammer, shot put and discus.
