BRANDON WHEELER NAMED
E8 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
 ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2007) -- Brandon Wheeler, a sophomore
on the Nazareth track and field team, has been
honored as Empire 8 Athlete of the Week for the
seven-day period that ended Feb. 18, 2007.
Wheeler, of Penn Yan, N.Y. and a graduate of
Penn Yan Academy, broke three school records in
placing fourth in the NYSCTC Pentathlon Championships
hosted by Ithaca College Sunday.
Wheeler won two of the five events and totaled
a school-record 3,115 points in the single-day
competition. He won the high jump with a record
leap of 1.98 meters (6 feet, 6 inches) and the
1,000-meter run (2:52.80). He also set a record
in the long jump with a third-place leap of 6.12
meters (20 feet, 1 inch).
Wheeler and the rest of the Nazareth team competes
this weekend at the NYSCTC Championships at St.
Lawrence University.
