CONNELLY 9TH IN NYSCTC DECATHLON AFTER DAY 1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 29, 2007) -- Senior Craig Connelly (pictured) was in ninth-place of the decathlon Sunday after day one of the Empire 8/NYSCTC Multis Championships, hosted by Nazareth College. He amassed 2904 points through the first five events.

Connelly placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.63 seconds and first in the 400-meter dash as he finished in 50.69 seconds. Connelly also competed in the shot put, long jump, and high jump during day one. He placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of nine meters, 11th in the long jump with a jump of 5.80 meters, and 12th in the high jump with a jump of 1.55 meters.

Nick Perzanoski of St. Lawrence was in first place after day one with 3243 points, followed by Ray Shadouens of Buffalo State (3158 points), and Tim Diegelman (3136 points).

In the women's heptathlon event, Jamie Landry of the University of Rochester was in first place after day one. She amassed 2600 points through four events. She was followed by Lauren Koppel (2550 points) of Ithaca and Kerri Boyle (2547 points) of Brockport.

The day two events begin Monday April 30 at 9 a.m.
