N.Y. (Oct. 9, 2005) -- Ithaca claimed the Empire
8 Conference title in women's tennis Sunday at
Tennis Heaven as the Bombers defeated Nazareth
in the championship match, 7-2.
Ithaca won all three doubles matches and four
of the six singles contests to claim the title.
Freshmen Stephanie Parvan and Rachel Leonard won
for Nazareth at second and third singles respectively.
Leonard (pictured) won three more singles matches
over the weekend and now stands at 16-1, playing
mostly second and third singles.
Leonard and Parvan also lost a close match at
second doubles, 9-8. Also the first doubles team
of Betsy O'Brien and Angela Tessoni lost 8-5 as
did the third doubles combination of Kathryn Cross
and Emily McAdoo.
Earlier in the tournament, Nazareth won matches
over Elmira, 5-1, and Alfred, 6-1.
