N.Y (Oct. 1, 2005) -- Visiting Nazareth won five
of six singles matches Saturday as the Golden
Flyers defeated Alfred in women's tennis, 7-2.
Freshman Rachel Leonard (pictured) was a straight-set
winner at second singles as Nazareth improved
to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Empire 8 matches.
Betsy O'Brien, Emily McAdoo and Danielle Carinci
each won close, three-set matches at third, fourth
and fifth singles respectively, while Kathryn
Cross won in straight sets at sixth singles.
In doubles matches, the second team of Leonard
and freshman Stephanie Parvan won 8-6 as did the
third doubles tandem of Cross and McAdoo.
Nazareth plays again Sunday at Hartwick at 1
p.m.
