N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2006) -- Senior Betsy O'Brien
(pictured) rallied to win her third singles match
after dropping the first set Thursday to help
visiting Nazareth secure its first women's tennis
victory of the season, a 5-2 triumph over St.
John Fisher.
O'Brien dropped the first set to Fisher's Alicia
Kaucher, but won sets two and three 6-2, 6-4 to
become one of four singles winners for the Golden
Flyers.
Sophomore Rachel Leonard improved to 7-0 overall
at second singles with a straight-set victory
and sophomore Stephanie Parvan won at first singles.
Freshman Jackie Martinez captured the fourth singles
match 6-4, 6-1. Darkness prevented the completion
of the fifth and sixth singles matches.
Martinez teamed with Jess Harvey for Nazareth's
other point, a 9-7 victory at second doubles.
