NAZARETH DOMINATES HARTWICK, 7-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2006) -- Nazareth capped a successful women's tennis weekend Sunday with a 7-2 victory over visiting Hartwick.

The Golden Flyers improved to 4-2 in the Empire 8 and 4-3 overall by winning five of the six singles matches and two of three doubles contests. Nazareth also won conference matches over Elmira and Alfred Friday and Saturday respectively.

Sophomore Rachel Leonard remained unbeaten in dual matches with a straight-set victory at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Stephanie Parvan also won at first singles, 6-0, 6-2. Other singles winners were freshman Jackie Martinez at fourth singles and seniors Emily McAdoo and Kathryn Cross (pictured) at fifth and sixth singles respectively.

In doubles action, the first tandem of Leonard and Parvan was successful with an 8-6 win. McAdoo teamed with senior Betsy O'Brien for an 8-1 triumph at third doubles.

Nazareth visits the University of Rochester for a non-conference match Wednesday, then competes in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament this weekend.
