Nazareth hosts Alfred, Hartwick this weekend

ELMIRA, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2004) -- Visiting Nazareth swept six singles and three doubles matches Thursday and blanked Elmira in an Empire 8 women's tennis match, 9-0.

Junior Angela Tessoni and senior Andrea Gaddis were straight-set winners at first and second singles respectively. They also combined for an 8-0 win at first doubles. Sophomore Liz Zimmerli also won in straight sets at fifth singles.

Nazareth also won close matches at third, fourth, and sixth singles with senior Ann Kucheryavenko and sophomores Betsy O'Brien (pictured) and Eileen Slifer winning in three sets each.

Nazareth, 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8, hosts a pair of key conference matches this weekend -- Alfred Saturday and Hartwick Sunday. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
