WEAVER NAMED E8 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 2, 2007) -- Jon Weaver, a junior on the Nazareth College men's tennis team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the seven-day period that ended April 1, 2007.

A native of Victor, N.Y. and a graduate of Victor High School, Weaver won three matches at second singles for the Golden Flyers last week to extend his personal winning streak to seven matches. He recorded three-set wins against Hobart and Ithaca and a straight-set victory over RIT.

In a match at Ithaca last Saturday, Weaver lost the first set and then rallied to win the next two 6-3, 6-1 as Nazareth won the Empire 8 Conference match 5-4. He also teamed with Andre Putyera to win doubles matches against Ithaca and RIT.

Nazareth resumes its schedule with a non-conference match Wednesday at Oswego.
