NAZARETH DEFEATS HARTWICK, 8-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 14, 2007) -- Nazareth remained unbeaten Saturday against Empire 8 men's tennis competition as the Golden Flyers defeated visiting Hartwick, 8-1, in a match played at Tennis Heaven.

The Golden Flyers improved to 4-0 in conference matches and 7-5 overall after winning all six singles matches in straight sets and two of the three doubles contests.

Senior Andre Putyera (pictured), juniors Jerry Stocker and Jon Weaver and sophomore Greg Bohneberg each were victorious in both singles and doubles. Putyera won 6-3, 6-0 at first singles and Weaver won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles. Bohneberg and Stocker won in straight sets at fourth and sixth singles respectively.

Other singles winners were junior Terrance Nichols at No. 3 and freshman Steve Trobert at No. 5.

Putyera and Weaver combined for a point at first doubles and Bohneberg and Stocker teamed up at second doubles.

Nazareth plays three matches in successive days this week, starting with a non-conference match at Oswego Monday. The Golden Flyers visit St. John Fisher Tuesday and Alfred Wednesday.
