CANTON,
N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2005) -- Nazareth
freshman Ryan Weaver (pictured) won two singles
matches over the weekend, then lost in the A flight
final to Matt Dwyer, the top singles player from
St. Lawrence, 6-2, 6-3 in the Saints Fall Classic.
Weaver
advanced to the finals by defeating Jon Satkowski
of St. Lawrence in three sets, then Hamilton's
Reid Snyder in straight sets.
Nazareth
senior Andre Putyera also competed in the A flight
and won his first match 6-4, 6-4 over Hamilton's
Dan Gordon. He then lost in the semifinals to
St. Lawrence's Matt Dwyer 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.
Other
highlights for Nazareth included freshman Greg
Bohneberg, who won one match in the B flight before
losing in the semifinals; and sophomore Jerry
Stocker and junior Tim Sorge each won once in
the C flight before losing.
