NAZARETH ADVANCES TO EMPIRE 8 FINAL
• TOURNAMENT RESULTS

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (April 22, 2006) -- Top-seeded Nazareth advanced to Sunday's championship matchof the Empire 8 Conference Tournament for men's tennis as the Golden Flyers defeated RIT in a semifinal match, 5-2.

The Golden Flyers, which finished 9-6 overall and 6-0 in the Empire 8 Conference during the regular season, will play second-seeded Ithaca for the conference title Sunday at 9 a.m. at Tennis Heaven.

After RIT earned a point by winning two of the three doubles matches, Nazareth secured the victory by winning five of the six doubles matches.

Andre Putyera won in straight sets over RIT's Jose Guzman at first singles. Freshmen Ryan Weaver and Greg Bohneberg also won decisively at second and third singles respectively. Sophomores Jon Weaver and Terrance Nichols (pictured) were winners at fourth and fifth singles.

Nichols and Ryan Weaver combined for a win at second doubles.
