Now in her
15th season directing the men's and women's tennis teams, Annette
Shapiro is well recognized at Nazareth for her hard work and dedication
as a mentor to student-athletes.
She's also
developed a habit of producing com-petitive teams year after year.
Her women's teams have been especially strong and have gained national
recognition in recent sea-sons with players compet-ing in national
tourna-ments.
Her career
record of 133-79 on the women's side, includes asolid 13-4 record
last fall.
Several players
have been invited to compete in post-season events. In 1997, Shapiro's
daughter, Corey, was chosen to compete in the NCAA Division III
singles championships in California.
In previous
seasons, Kris Antonyak, Kathleen Moynihan, and Toshimi Sugimoto
earned national rankings and competed in post-season events. Sugimoto
twice won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division III
national singles title.
A native of
Hicksville, N.Y., Shapiro serves as Nazareth's Senior Woman Administrator
and is the advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She
resides in Brighton with her husband Murph. They are parents of
two sons and two daughters.
