N.Y. (Nov. 18, 2006) -- Nazareth junior Emily
Lesher (pictured, Sherrill, NY) broke more records
Saturday as the Golden Flyers secured two more
victories in women's swimming and diving to run
their record to 5-0. Nazareth easily defeated
visiting Penn State Behrend (107-31) and Pitt-Bradford
(126-4).
In the men's meet, Nazareth defeated Pitt-Bradford
for its first win of the season, 86-45. Nazareth
also lost to Penn State Behrend, 93-45.
Junior Emily Lesher (Sherrill, NY) set three
school records to lead Nazareth to two wins Saturday
in Swimming & Diving.
Lesher was part of a Nazareth school record in
the 400-meter medley relay that was clocked in
4:41.84. The team also included freshman Lauren
McKinney (Watertown, NY), junior Kate Kukan (Scotia,
NY) and junior Meghan Okoniewski (Altamont, NY).
Lesher later broke school and pool records in
the 200-meter backstroke (2:25.97) and the 200-meter
IM (2:27.57).
Other winners were freshman Kaitlin Shearman (Schencksville,
PA) in the 100 backstroke (1:11.99) and the 100
freestyle (1:02.95); freshman Lauren Danis (Latham,
NY) in the 800 freestyle (10:19.16); grad student
Amy Mehltretter (Tonawanda, NY) in the 400 freestyle
(4:45.55) and sophomore Hilary Ship in the 1-
and 3-meter diving events. Nazareth also captured
the 400 free relay (4:22.79) with the team of
McKinney, Danis, Mehltretter and Okoniewski
For
the men's team, freshman Matt Brown (pictured,
Williamstown, NJ) won both diving events. Junior
Jon Campbell was second in the 100 breaststroke
(1:14.97) and the 200 IM (2:29.55) and third in
the 400 freestyle (4:46.40).
Senior Tim Baker had second-place finishes in
the 50- and 100-meter freestyles in :25.96 and
:58.51 respectively. Sophomore Mike Fritz was
second in the 200 breaststroke (2:49.84).
