EMILY LESHER NAMED
EMPIRE 8 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Jan. 15, 2007) -- Emily Lesher, a junior
on the Nazareth women’s swimming and diving
team, was named Empire 8 Athlete of the Week for
the seven-day period that ended Jan. 14.
Lesher is a native of Sherrill, N.Y. and a graduate
of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School. She helped
the Golden Flyers improve to 7-0 in dual meets
with a 186-114 home win over LeMoyne. Lesher won
three individual events and was part of a record-setting
200-mter medley relay team.
Lesher broke pool and school records in both
the 100 backstroke and the 200 IM in winning each
race easily. She also finished first in the 200
backstroke. She has a career dual meet record
of 47-0.
Lesher also swam the backstroke portion of the
200 medley relay that included Kate Kukan, Lauren
McKinney and Meghan Okoniewski.
Nazareth swims again Saturday at Fredonia in
a meet that also includes Empire 8 Conference
rival Ithaca at 1 p.m.
