GOLDEN FLYERS COMPLETE SEASON AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Feb. 26, 2005) -- Nazareth's men's swimming and diving team closed out its season over the weekend at the Upper New York State Championships at Nottingham High School. The meet was held in conjunction with the Empire 8 Conference championships.

Nazareth finished in 11th place in the team standings and fifth of six in the Empire 8 Conference meet.

Top performers included freshman Jon Campbell, who placed 12th in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.04) and 13th in the 200 breastsgroke (2:20.62); junior Dan Paganin, who was 13th in the 100 butterfly (:55.47) and 15th in the 200 butterfly (2:04.47); and junior Chris Fello (pictured), who placed 15th in the 100 backstroke (:58.00).

Nazareth also had some strong showings in the relay events. Campbell, Fello, and Paganin were joined by sophomore Tim Baker for a ninth-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:31.05). The same group placed 10th in the 200 medley relay (1:42.68) and 10th in the 400 free relay (3:22.77).

In the 400 medley relay, Baker, Fello, and Paganin combined with senior Paul Osetek for 12th place in 3:49.38. Nazareth also was 12th in the 800 free relay behind Matt Muratore, Osetek, Karl Kolkmann, and Tom Mitchell in 7:41.37.
