Golden Flyers lose regular-season finale to finish 7-6-3

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2006) -- Visiting Nazareth lost to Union on Saturday in a non-conference women's soccer game.

The game closed out the Golden Flyers' regular-season schedule and dropped their overall record to 7-6-3 while Union improved to 12-2-3.

Kelly Finn (Homer HS/Cortland, NY) scored for Nazareth off an assist from Rosie Simiele (Solvay HS/Syracuse, NY) to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead early in the first half.

Caitlin Cuozzo scored in the 56th minute to tie the game for Union from an assist from Katie Weinstein. Union took the lead in the 63rd minute after Allison Cuozzo scored the game-winning goal.

Union led Nazareth 19-8 in shots and 9-0 in corner kicks. Shannon Burns (Colonie HS/Albany, NY) made five saves in 67 minutes. The Golden Flyers travel to Ithaca Thursday to open the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. Game time is 1 p.m.
