ROSIE SIMIELE NAMED E8 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 30, 2006) -- Rosie Simiele, a senior midfielder on the Nazareth women's soccer team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the seven-day period that ended Oct. 29.

A native of Syracuse and a graduate of Solvay High School, Simiele had two goals and two assists in Nazareth's 8-0 home-field win over Alfred last Tuesday. The victory clinched the fourth and final playoff spot for this week's Empire 8 Conference Tournament. Simiele also had an assist on a goal by Kelly Finn in Saturday's 2-1 non-conference loss at Union.

Simiele is the Golden Flyers' leading scorer in 2006 with 18 points on six goals and six assists.

The Golden Flyers play again Thursday at Ithaca at 1 p.m. in the semifinals of the E8 Conference Tournament.
