N.Y. (Sept. 23, 2006) – Host Ithaca
got a first-half goal from Colleen Masterson Saturday
and the Bombers held on to defeat Nazareth in
women's soccer, 1-0.
The defeat was the second in a row in Empire
8 Conference play for the Golden Flyers, now 4-3
overall. Ithaca improved to 2-0 in E8 games and
4-2-1 overall.
Ithaca had a 17-7 advantage in shots and got
the only goal it needed at 26:52 as Masterson
converted a pass from Ashley Williams to score
her fourth goal of the season.
"We were completely outplayed," said
Nazareth Coach Gail Mann. "We cam out flat,
but played a little better in the second half,
but it was too late."
Nazareth junior Shannon Burns (pictured) played
all 90 minutes in goal and made seven saves. The
Golden Flyers will look for their first conference
win Wednesday at St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
