SHANNON BURNS NAMED
EMPIRE 8 GOALIE OF THE WEEK
 ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Sept. 5, 2006) -- Shannon Burns, a junior
goalie on the Nazareth College women's soccer
team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Goalie
of the Week for the seven-day period ending Sept.
4, 2006.
A
native of Albany, N.Y. and a graduate of Colonie
High School, Burns helped the Golden Flyers open
the 2006 season in successful fashion by posting
a pair of shutouts. She made three saves in a
3-0 victory over Allegheny Saturday, then had
six saves in a 1-0 win over Wittenberg on Sunday.
The
Golden Flyers have a pair of home games this week
-- Thursday against Brockport at 4 p.m. and Saturday
against Skidmore at 2 p.m.
