SHANNON BURNS NAMED
EMPIRE 8 GOALIE OF THE WEEK
 ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2006) -- Shannon Burns, a junior
goalie on the Nazareth College women's soccer
team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Goalie
of the Week for the seven-day period ending Oct.
22, 2006. It marks the second time this season
that Burns has been honored by the Empire 8.
A
native of Albany, N.Y. and a graduate of Colonie
High School, Burns recorded a career-high 12 saves
last Wednesday in a 0-0 tie against 13th-ranked
Rochester. The shutout win was her fifth of the
season. She also had four saves in a loss to Elmira
last Saturday. For the season, Burns has 70 saves
and a 0.92 goals-against average.
Nazareth
has two games this week to close out the regular
season -- home against Alfred Tuesday at 3 p.m.
and at Union Saturday at 1 p.m.
