NORTHEAST REGION ALL-STAR TEAM
ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Dec. 1, 2006) -- Rosie Simiele (pictured),
a senior midfielder on the Nazareth women's soccer
team, was a first-team selection on the NCAA Division
III All-Northeast Region team for 2006. The all-region
teams are sponsored by the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America and adidas.
Nazareth also was represented by sophomore forward
Rachel Cushman on the second team and sophomore
defender Ashley Clinton on the third team.
Simiele, of Syracuse, N.Y. and a graduate of
Solvay High School, was the Golden Flyers' leading
scorer in 2006 with 21 points on seven goals and
seven assists. She completed her four-year career
with 60 points on 22 goals and 16 assists.
Cushman, of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate Irondequoit
High School, was Nazareth's second leading scorer
in 2006 with 15 points on seven goals and one
assist.
Clinton, of Rexford, N.Y. and a graduate of Shenendehowa
High School, started all 19 games for the Golden
Flyers in 2006 and contributed one assist. She
helped limit opponents to fewer than one goal
per game. Simiele, Cushman and Clinton each were
honored earlier as first-team selections to the
Empire 8 Conference all-star team.
Nazareth finished with an overall record of 9-7-3
in 2006. The Golden Flyers captured the Empire
8 Conference title for the eighth year in a row
and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament for
the first time since 2002.
