ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2006) -- Sophomores Ashley Clinton and Rachel Cushman were first-team selections along with senior Rosie Simiele for Nazareth on the Empire 8 Conference all-star teams for women's soccer.

Clinton made the first team as a back, Cushman as a forward and Simiele as a midfielder. Senior midfielder Jessica Rogers was selected to the second team and junior midfielder Julie Birbilis made honorable mention. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's eight head coaches.

Clinton of Rexford, N.Y. and a graduate Shenendehowa High School, has started all 18 games for the Golden Flyers in 2006 and has contributed one assist. More importantly, she has helped limit opponents to just 17 goals for a 0.90 goals-against average.

Cushman, of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Irondequoit High School, was Nazareth's second leading scorer in '06 with 15 points on seven goals and one assist.

Simiele, of Syracuse, N.Y. and a graduate of Solvay High School, was Nazareth's leading scorer with seven goals and seven assists. She is a repeat selection to the first team.

Rogers, of Auburn, N.Y. and a graduate of Auburn High School, started all 18 games as a midfielder for the Golden Flyers and contributed one goal and one assist. Birbilis, of Ballston Spa, N.Y. and a graduate of Ballston Spa High School, contributed one goal and five assists while starting all 18 games.
