N.Y. (Sept. 9, 2006) – Visiting Nazareth
had a goal in each half Saturday as the Golden
Flyers remained unbeaten in men's soccer with
a 2-0 non-conference victory over Oswego.
Nazareth, off to its best start in men's soccer
since 2000, is now 4-0 overall. Oswego fell to
2-2.
The Golden Flyers got the only goal they needed
in the 19th minute as senior midfielder Scott
Cavanaugh (pictured, Holley HS/Brockport, NY)
netted his first goal of the season off an assist
from senior Jeremy Bergan (Bishop Ludden HS/Clay,
NY).
The score stayed 1-0 until freshman Greg Blanchard
(Mynderse Academy/Seneca Falls, NY) scored his
first college goal after receiving a pass from
sophomore Justin Stevens (Canisius HS/Derby, NY).
Nazareth enjoyed as 19-11 advantage in shots
and senior goalie Alex Kilroy (Spencerport HS/Spencerport,
NY) made four saves to pick up his second straight
shutout and the 13th of his career.
Nazareth continues its season with a pair of
home games this week. The Golden Flyers host Hamilton
Tuesday at 4 p.m. and then are home Saturday to
host Ithaca in the first Empire 8 Conference game
of the season at 3:30 p.m.
