N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2006) -- Hobart's Sam Wisner scored
the game-winning goal with 2:33 left in regulation
Saturday as the visiting Statesmen defeated Nazareth
in a non-conference men's soccer game, 2-1.
Hobart, ranked seventh nationally in Division
III according to the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America, improved its overall record to 12-2.
The Golden Flyers fell to 10-4.
Wisner's goal, his third of the season, came
on a shot from the left side and came after he
settled a short pass from Dan Riso to break a
1-1 tie. Nazareth had tied the score in the 71st
minute as Paul Pacitto (Wayne Central/Ontario,
NY) scored his third goal of the season off an
assist from Nick Proukou (Rush-Henrietta).
Hobart led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Tom Moulton,
who retrieved a loose ball and fired a shot past
Nazareth keeper Alex Kilroy at the 11-minute mark.
Nazareth had a 14-5 edge in shots, but Hobart's
Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, NY) made
nine saves to record the win. Kilroy made three
saves for Nazareth.
The Golden Flyers are off until next Saturday
when they host Utica in an Empire 8 Conference
game at 1 p.m.
