ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2006) -- Nazareth scored all four of its goals in the first half Tuesday to rally from an early deficit in a 4-2 victory over visiting Fredonia in men's soccer.

The non-conference victory boosted Nazareth's overall record to 7-2. Fredonia, unbeaten in its last four games, fell to 5-4-1 overall.

After Fredonia's Rob Esposito scored on a direct kick in the ninth minute, Nazareth exploded for four straight goals before halftime to take a commanding advantage.

Sophomore Justin Stevens scored his team-leading fifth goal in the 16th minute to tie the score. Four minutes later, Stevens assisted Andrew Wirfel, who scored his first career goal for the Golden Flyers.

Freshman Philip Holmberg (pictured) added an unassisted goal midway through the half and senior Scott Cavanaugh (Brockport, NY) completed the barrage with an unassisted goal on a 25-yard blast with less than five minutes to play in the half.

Nazareth had 10 of its 11 shots in the first half, but kept Fredonia frustrated until Steve Tamtakiridis scored with less than three minutes to play.

Nazareth senior Alex Kilroy made four saves in goal, while Steve Bergen made three saves for Fredonia.

Nazareth returns to action Saturday for an Empire 8 Conference game at St. John Fisher at 1 p.m.
