AHAMED, KILROY MAKE ALL-REGION TEAM
» COMPLETE LIST OF ALL-REGION TEAMS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 1, 2006) -- Sophomore sweeper Mohammed Ahamed (far right) and senior goalie Alex Kilroy are first-team representatives for Nazareth on the 2006 NCAA All-Northeast Region teams for men's soccer. The all-region teams are sponsored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and adidas.

Ahamed, of the Bronx, N.Y. and a graduate of Martin Luther King High School, started all 23 games for the Golden Flyers in 2006 and was earlier honored as the Empire 8 Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Ahamed was one of the key contributors who helped the Golden Flyers limit opponents to fewer than one goal per game.

Kilroy, of Spencerport, N.Y. and a graduate of Spencerport High School, was a four-year starter in goal for the Golden Flyers. In 2006, he played more than 2,100 minutes in 23 starts and produced a 0.93 goals-against average with 126 saves and a school-record eight shutouts.

Ahamed and Kilroy guided the Golden Flyers to their best season ever in 2006. In addition to winning a school-record 15 games, the Golden Flyers won the championship of the Empire 8 Conference and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
