» COMPLETE LIST OF ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 9, 2006) -- Mohammed Ahamed (pictured), a sophomore sweeper for the Golden Flyers' men's soccer team, has been named to the NCAA Division III All-America team. The teams are sponsored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and adidas.

Ahamed, of the Bronx, N.Y. and a graduate of Martin Luther King High School, was a third-team selection and one of 38 players honored nationally after leading Nazareth to its finest men's soccer season ever in 2006.

Ahamed started all 23 games and was a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star as well as E8 Defensive Player of the Year. Nazareth finished 15-5-3 in 2006 and set a school record for victories in a season and shutouts (8). The Golden Flyers also won the Empire 8 Conference championship and eliminated three opponents in the NCAA Division III Tournament before losing to New York University in the national quarterfinals.

Ahamed is the third men's soccer player to be named as an All-American for Nazareth. Steve Fisher was a third-team selection as a forward in 2000 and Jefferson Dargout made second team as a forward in 2002.
