ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 25, 2007) -- Senior Jessica McArdle (pictured, Lancaster HS/Depew, NY) and junior Allison Bayer (Corning East HS/Corning, NY) each scored three goals for Nazareth to lead the Golden Flyers over the University of Rochester 12-6.

The non-conference win was the tenth straight for the Golden Flyers, who finish the regular season with a 12-1 record. Nazareth has won 28 out of its last 29 regular season games dating back to the 2005 season. With the loss, the Yellowjackets fall to 4-9.

The Golden Flyers took control early as McArdle scored less than three minutes into the game. Senior Tia Morgia (Watertown HS/Watertown, NY) gave Nazareth a 2-0 advantage after scoring an unassisted goal with 22:45 left in the first half. Bayer increased the Golden Flyers' lead to 3-0 with her first goal coming with 18:41 left in the half. She added her second goal 16 seconds later to make it a four-goal Nazareth lead.

Rochester converted on a free position shot half way through the period to cut its deficit to 4-1. However, Nazareth answered with three goals before the half ended to take a 7-1 lead at halftime. Seniors Beth Quartier (Cicero-North Syracuse HS/Cicero, NY), Caitlin Zimmer (East Rochester HS/East Rochester, NY), and McArdle each recorded a goal for Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers extended their lead to 9-1 early in the second half as Morgia scored her second goal and McArdle recorded her third. Rochester scored five of the final eight goals of the game but never threatened Nazareth's lead. Bayer, Liz Wells (Ithaca HS/Ithaca, NY), and Alyssia Roberts (Marcus Whitman HS/Stanley, NY) recorded Nazareth's final goals of the game.

The Golden Flyers held a small advantage in draw controls (11-8), but were slightly outshot (23-21). Each team collected 19 ground balls while Nazareth was called for 22 fouls compared to seven for Rochester. Sophomore Maria Fusco (Immaculate Heart Central/Watertown, NY) made eight saves in 54 minutes of playing time to record her 12th victory of the season.

Nazareth will host the Empire 8 Conference tournament May 5 and 6. The Golden Flyers are the top seed and will play against RIT at 1:30 on May 5th. The winner of the Nazareth/RIT game will play the winner of Ithaca/St. John Fisher for the championship on May 6th at 1 p.m.
