Golden Flyers improve to 12-1 with eighth
straight win

N.Y. (April 17, 2007) -- Senior Chad Amidon and
freshman Erinn O'Hara (pictured) each scored three
goals Tuesday and senior Kevin Gibbons added two
goals as Nazareth won its eighth straight men's
lacrosse game with a 22-4 romp over visiting Keuka.
The Golden Flyers, tied for fifth in the latest
national rankings, improved to 12-1 overall. Keuka
fell to 3-5. The Golden Flyers resume their Empire
8 Conference schedule Friday with a key home matchup
with Ithaca at 5 p.m. The teams are tied for first
place with 5-0 conference records.
In Tuesday's game, Nazareth scored the game's
first 11 goals before Keuka got on the board on
a goal by Andy Stevenson with 3:48 left in the
half. Amidon and O'Hara each had two goals in
the first half as Nazareth led 13-1 after 30 minutes.
Amidon and O'Hara each scored again early in
the third quarter and Gibbons scored his two goals
as Nazareth extended its advantage to 17-1. Nazareth
scored four more goals in the fourth quarter with
sophomore Chris Law and freshman Jay Willmes each
netting his first career goal. Freshman Joe Valasiadis
also picked up his first career point -- an assist
-- on a goal by freshman Mark DeCirce in the third
quarter.
Nazareth dominated the game statistically with
large advantages in shots (65-18), ground balls
(54-30) and faceoffs (21-8). Law had seven ground
balls for Nazareth and captured 13 of 16 faceoffs.
Amidon and Alex Cole each had six ground balls.
For Keuka, Chris Donohue (Jordan-Elbridge HS/Elbridge,
NY) had one goal and one assist and Justin Percori
(South Jefferson HS/Watertown, NY) had two assists.
