HOTALING NAMED E8 PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Randall named Coach of the Year, O'Hara is top rookie

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (May 2, 2007) -- Syracuse natives Chad Amidon and Ryan Hotaling, seniors on the Nazareth College men's lacrosse team, have been selected as first-team all-stars in the Empire 8 Conference for 2007. The all-star teams were selected through voting among the league's eight head coaches.

Hotaling, an attackman, was selected Player of the Year and Nazareth freshman attackman Erinn O'Hara was chosen Rookie of the Year. In addition, Rob Randall was selected as Coach of the Year.

Three other Nazareth players were second-team selections in long-stick midfielder Francis Donald, defenseman Ryan Conley and goalie Pat Mullin. O'Hara was an honorable mention choice along with midfielders Mark Kanellis and Conor O'Keefe and defenseman Will Tuttle.

Amidon and Hotaling, both graduates of Onondaga Central near Syracuse, were instrumental in Nazareth winning the Empire 8 Conference championship for the fourth time in the last five years. Amidon, a midfielder, leads the Golden Flyers in scoring with 52 points (32 goals, 19 assists) and ground balls (92) and has won 60 percent of his face-offs taken (156 for 259). Hotaling, despite missing four games due to a shoulder injury, has 50 points on 31 goals and 19 assists. He ranks third all-time at Nazareth with 223 points on 133 goals and 90 assists.

O'Hara, of Camillus, N.Y. and a graduate of Salisbury School in Connecticut, started regularly for Nazareth as a freshman attackman. He ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 37 points on 24 goals and 13 assists.

Randall, in his seventh season as Nazareth head coach, has a 93-22 record with the Golden Flyers, including a 15-2 record in 2007. He also was named E8 Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003.

Conley, a senior from Fairfield, Conn. and a graduate of Fairfield High School, has started regularly as a close defenseman the last two seasons. He leads the Golden Flyers' defensemen with 43 ground balls and also was a second-team E8 selection in 2006.

Donald, a senior from Dallas, Texas and a graduate of St. Mark's School, contributed three goals and two assists with 39 ground balls as a long-stick midfielder in 2006. Mullin, a senior from Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Irondequoit High School, has started all 17 games in '07 and has a .601 save percentage with a goals-against average of 8.30.

O'Keefe, a senior from Setuaket, N.Y. and a graduate of Stony Brook School, contributed 18 goals and nine assists, while Kanellis, a junior from Cortland, N.Y. and a graduate of Cortland High School, has five goals and two assists. Tuttle, a senior from Kennebunk, Maine and a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, has one assist and 40 ground balls.
