Marty Coddington is entering his sixth year as Nazareth's head
golf coach. During his tenure, the men’s team has won the
Empire 8 Conference Championship twice, has won eight tournament
titles, has placed second nine times, has produced one NCAA Mid-Atlantic
Region All-Star, one Academic All-American, three Empire 8 Conference
Players of the Year, and one Empire 8 Conference Freshman of the
Year.
Coddington was rewarded for the Golden Flyers’ unprecedented
string of success by being named Empire 8 Conference Coach of the
Year for 2002-03 and 2003-04. During that time, he produced consecutive
100-win seasons. Overall, he has compiled a .594 winning percentage
against Division III competition.
A native of Horseheads, N.Y., Coddington played golf at Horseheads
High as a seventh grader and earned all-conference honors for seven
consecutive years. He continued his career for four years at LeMoyne
College, graduating summa cum laude in 1995 with a Bachelor’s
degree in accounting and a minor in management information systems.
In 1996, Coddington earned his New York State CPA license. He recently
earned his Master of Science degree in Management from Nazareth
College.
One of Coddington’s career highlights came at age 17 when
he was chosen to serve as captain of a team of 25 American golfers
that traveled to Scotland to compete in the Carnoustie Junior Invitational.
He placed sixth in the tournament and won the Maxfli-sponsored Pringle
Cup for outstanding sportsmanship.
Coddington moved to the Rochester area in 1995 and since 1998 has
worked for Wegmans Food Markets. For six years, he worked as a CPA
and business analyst, and for the last two years has been working
in Human Resources. He also works as a part-time accounting instructor
at Nazareth.
