N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2006) -- Utica sophomore Katie
Kutas scored four goals Sunday to lift the host
Pioneers to a 5-1 field hockey victory over the
Golden Flyers at Gaetano Stadium.
The loss was the fifth straight
for Nazareth, who slipped to 1-6 overall and 0-2
in the Empire 8 Conference. Utica is 5-3 overall
and 1-1 in conference games.
Kutas had three unassisted goals
in the first half as the Pioneers built a commanding
lead. She added her fourth and team-leading 10th
goal of the season before the second half was
five minutes old to put the Pioneers up 4-0.
Nazareth's Kelly Miranda (pictured)
helped the Golden Flyers avoid a shutout by scoring
unassisted with about 12 minutes to play.
Utica had a 17-3 advantage in
shots and Nazareth goalie Nichole Magistro made
seven saves. Nazareth's next game is Saturday
at Ithaca at 1 p.m.
