NAZARETH FALLS TO UR, 3-0
Golden Flyers visit Stevens Tech Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2006) -- Visiting Rochester scored once in the first half and twice in the second Wednesday to take a 3-0 victory over Nazareth in field hockey on the Golden Flyers' artificial turf field.

The non-conference defeat dropped Nazareth's overall record to 1-3. Rochester improved to 2-2 overall.

The Yellowjackets scored the only goal they needed at 23:54 of the first half as Kristy Johnson (Camden HS/Sylvan Beach, NY) scored off a pass from Lara Bucarey (Blair Academy/Blairstown, NJ).

In the second half, Bucarey scored for UR as she tipped in a shot by teammate Celinda Fletcher (Pittsford Mendon HS/Pittsford, NY) at 41:21. The Yellowjackets struck again 11 minutes later as senior Revay Wilson (Pittsford Sutherland HS/Pittsford, NY) converted a perfect pass from Mary DiMatteo in front of the Golden Flyers' goal.

Rochester had a 16-4 edge in shots and junior goalie Rachel Cahan made three saves to pick up the shutout victory. Sophomore Katie May (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) made seven saves for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth opens its Empire 8 Conference schedule Saturday at Stevens Tech at 1 p.m.
