HOBOKEN, N.J. (Sept. 16, 2006) -- Host Stevens Tech scored the game's only goal with less than five minutes to play in regulation Saturday as the Ducks won their first-ever Empire 8 Conference game in field hockey with a 1-0 victory over Nazareth.

Stevens, which joined the Empire 8 Conference this season, improved to 6-1 overall. Nazareth is 0-1 in conference play and 1-4 overall.

Stevens had a 24-13 advantage in shots but was turned away repeatedly by Nazareth goalie Katie May (Rochester, NY pictured), who made 13 saves. Stevens finally broke through at 65:10 as Courtney Geddis scored an unassisted goal to provide the Ducks with the victory. Stevens goalie Stephanie Smith made four saves for the shutout.

Nazareth is back on the road Thursday to play Houghton College in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
