ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2006) -- Visiting Elmira defeated Nazareth 2-1 in an Empire 8 Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon. Nazareth falls to 3-11 while Elmira improves their record to 3-8.

Kayla Blank (Whitesboro HS/ Whitesboro, NY) opened the scoring early in the second half with an unassisted goal for Elmira. A few minutes later, Nazareth’s freshman Kelly Flanagan (Fairport HS/ Fairport, NY) answered with a goal for the Golden Flyers in the 41st minute with an assist from Jodee Magistro (Comsewogue HS/ Port Jefferson Station, NY). Jennifer Heydt (Schuylkill Valley HS/ Leesport, PA) scored the game-winning goal for Elmira with less than seven minutes in overtime.

The Golden Flyers out-shot the Soaring Eagles 16-13 while Elmira led in penalty corners 7-4. Nazareth will host Oswego in a non-conference game on Tuesday October 24 at 4 p.m.
