SPRINGS, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2006) -- Juniors Nick
Stenuf and Ashley Hughes were Nazareth's top individual
finishers Saturday in the men's and women's races
respectively at the RPI Cross Country Invitational
at Saratoga State Park.
Stenuf finished 17th overall with
a time of 26 minutes, 30 seconds for 8 kilometers.
He also finished sixth best among Empire 8 Conference
runners. Julius Rono of Roberts Wesleyan won the
race in 25:18. Nazareth finished 10th in the team
standings with 239 points. RIT was first with
65, followed by St. Lawrence with 74.
Among the other Nazareth finishers
were junior Brendan Epstein in 21st place (26:41);
junior Aaron Sirtoli in 35th place (26:59); junior
Michael Anderson in 105th place (28:33); and senior
Larry DiCesare in 132nd place (29:22).
In
the women's 5-kilometer race, Hughes (pictured)
placed 25th overall and 10th among Empire 8 competitors
with a time of 19:05. Junior Jessica Brown was
close behind in 28th place (19:11).
Other top finishers for Nazareth
included sophomore Abby Crain in 45th place (19:39);
freshman Jenny Lounsbury in 59th place (20:04);
and junior Liz Pfleghardt in 72nd place (20:18).
Nazareth finished ninth in the
team standings with a point total of 221. Keene
State won the meet with 47 points with Ithaca
placing second with 72 points.
The Golden Flyers are off next
weekend, but return to action Nov. 4 to compete
at the NYSCTC meet, hosted by St. Lawrence.
