CANTON,
New York (Nov. 4, 2006) – Nazareth’s
men’s and women’s cross-country teams
competed in the NYSCTC meet at St. Lawrence on
Saturday.
Juniors Nick Stenuf (pictured) and Brendan Epstein
finished the 8-kilometer course in 26:43 and 26:44
respectively to lead the Nazareth’s men’s
team to a 10th place finish. Stenuf and Epstein
placed 20th and 31st overall. They were followed
by junior Aaron Sirtoli who placed 43rd (26:59)
and junior Michael Anderson (28:21) who finished
in 98th place. Senior Larry DiCesare finished
93rd (29:37) and senior Craig Connelly finished
in 102nd place (31:20).
Nazareth finished 10th out of 16 teams with a
total of 278 points. Geneseo won the men’s
race with a total of 37 points. The Blue Knights
were followed by RIT, who finished with 64 points,
University of Rochester, Ithaca, and Brockport.
In
the women's 5-kilometer race, junior Jessica Brown
(pictured) placed first for Nazareth and 26th
overall as she finished the race in 19:57. She
was followed by sophomore Abby Crain who placed
64th in a time of 20:51. Freshman Jenny Lounsbury
(21:01) and sophomore Lauren Glaser (21:02) placed
71st and 72nd respectively. Junior Liz Phleghardt
finished in 88th (21:37); followed by freshman
Shannon Bradley in 96th (21:42); junior Jennifer
Katz in 111th (22:03); and freshman Caitlyn Parmelee
in 132nd place (22:53).
Nazareth finished 10th out of 17 teams with a
total of 293 points. Geneseo won the women's race
with 35 total points. Ithaca finished second with
62 points, followed by RIT, St. Lawrence, and
Fredonia.
Nazareth competes at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals
in Letchworth Park next Saturday.
