BROWN, HUGHES NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2006) -- Jessica Brown (far right) and Ashley Hughes, juniors on the Nazareth women's cross country team, have been selected as Empire 8 Conference all-stars for 2006. Both were second-team selections through voting conducted by the conference's six head coaches.

Brown, of Oxford, N.Y. and a graduate of Oxford Academy, finished 11th at the Empire 8 Conference championship meet last Saturday at Saratoga State Park. She covered the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 11 seconds.

Hughes, of Phoenix, N.Y. and a graduate of John C. Birdlebough High School, finished one spot ahead of Brown at last Saturday's championship meet in a time of 19:05.

Brown also was singled out as Nazareth's representative on the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team. She was among the conference runners who distinguished themselves as outstanding sportswomen and consistently exhibited traits that were in line with Nazareth's educational mission.
