GOLDEN FLYERS COMPETE AT BROCKPORT INVITATIONAL
MEN'S 5K RESULTS | WOMEN'S 5K RESULTS

BROCKPORT, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2006) -- Junior Nick Stenuf turned in a second-place finish Saturday to lead Nazareth in its season-opening cross country meet for 2006.

Competing at the Brockport 5K Challenge, Stenuf posted a time of 16:27.8 for an average mile time of 5:17.9. Brockport's Andy Beringer won the race in 16:18.4.

Stenuf was followed closely by teammate Aaron Sirtoli (16:28.4), a junior transfer competing in his first race for Nazareth. Junior Brendan Epstein (pictured) placed seventh (16:51.9), then junior Michael Anderson (17:48.0) and freshman Aaron Heltsley (17:59.7).

Brockport won the team competition with 25 points, followed by Nazareth (46) and Geneseo (55).

In the women's meet, junior Ashley Hughes, a transfer from Providence, placed sixth in 20:45.3. She was chased by junior Jessica Brown in 11th place (21:13), sophomore Abby Crain in 18th (21:38.5), freshman Hannah Quick in 20th (21:42.8) and freshman Jenmy Lounsbury (22:15.0).

Geneseo won the team competition with 27 points, followed by Brockport (42) and Nazareth (64).
