Freshman earns E8 honors for sixth time this season

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2007) -- Whitney Smith, a freshman forward on the Nazareth College women's basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season.

Smith, of Webster, N.Y. and a graduate of Webster Thomas High School, scored 28 points as Nazareth dropped its final two games of the season. She scored 11 points in Friday's loss to Elmira and then had a team-high 17 points in a loss to Ithaca Saturday.

Smith finished the 2006-07 season as the Golden Flyers' leading scorer at 12.5 points per game and the second leading rebounder at 5.0 per game.
