WHITNEY SMITH NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
 ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Dec. 11, 2006) -- Whitney Smith, a freshman
forward on the Nazareth College women's basketball
team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie
of the Week for the seven-day period that ended
Dec. 10, 2006.
A native of Webster, N.Y. and a graduate Webster
Thomas High School, Smith averaged 16.7 points
in three non-conference losses for the Golden
Flyers last week. She scored a career-best 19
points to go with six rebounds in an 83-60 loss
to Cortland last Friday. Earlier in the week,
she had 16 points and nine rebounds against Fredonia
and 15 points at Pitt.-Bradford.
Smith leads the Golden Flyers in scoring with
an average of 12.3 points per game through six
games. Nazareth resumes its schedule Dec. 28 vs.
Gwynedd-Mercy in Daytona, Fla.
