GOLDEN FLYERS LOSE AT PITT.-BRADFORD, 80-66

BRADFORD, Pa. (Dec. 4, 2006) -- Pitt.-Bradford outscored visiting Nazareth 48-34 in the second half Monday to break away from a 32-32 halftime deadlock and the Panthers went on to take an 80-66 non-conference win over the Golden Flyers in women's basketball.

The defeat evened Nazareth's overall record at 2-2, while Pitt.-Bradford improved to 2-4 overall.

Pitt.-Bradford shot a blistering 55.3 percent from the field for the game (26-for-47), including 61.9 percent in the second half (13-for-21) to outgun the Golden Flyers. The Panthers also made 25 of 31 foul shots, including 20 of 23 in the second half.

Senior Stephanie Bowens led Nazareth with team highs in points (17) and rebounds (8). Freshman Whitney Smith came off the bench to add 15 points. Freshman Kylie Bartlett scored a season-best nine points on three three-point baskets and senior Cassie Denniston contributed seven assists and five rebounds.

Five players reached double figures for the Panthers, led by Taiasha Brown and Katie Moore with 19 points apiece. Brown also had a game-high nine rebounds.

Nazareth was ahead 37-34 following a basket by Bowens with 17:29 left in the game. Pitt.-Bradford then embarked on a 24-6 scoring spree that ended with the Panthers comfortably ahead, 58-43, with 8:00 left. Moore spearheaded the charge by scoring 11 of her points, including two three-pointers.

Nazareth has two more non-conference games this week before heading into the semester break. The Golden Flyers host Fredonia Thursday at 7 p.m. and then visit Cortland Friday at 7 p.m.
