NAZARETH FALLS TO ITHACA, 75-66
Seniors play final game for Golden Flyers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2007) -- Visiting Ithaca shot over 58% from the field in the second half to outscore Nazareth 75-66 in an Empire 8 conference basketball game. Freshman Whitney Smith (pictured) recorded a team-high 17 points in the loss.

With the victory, Ithaca improved its record to 14-11 overall and 10-4 in the Empire 8. With the loss, Nazareth finishes its season with a 7-18 overall record and a 3-11 conference record.

Nazareth led by as many as four points in the first half after senior Sarah Homer connected on a three-pointer with 10:03 left in the half. Ithaca, however, was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line in the final 6:46 to take a 30-28 halftime lead.

Nazareth would tie the game 34-34 after freshman Kelly Dunne hit a three-pointer with 17:54 left in the game. Ithaca answered on its next possession with a layup to reclaim the lead. Smith cut the Bombers' lead to one-point with 16:32 to play after she hit two free throws but that was as close as the Golden Flyers would come. Ithaca extended its lead to as many as 15 points with 7:38 remaining, but the closest Nazareth would come was 68-63 with 1:59 to play after Dunne and Smith connected on consecutive free throw opportunities.

In addition to Smith's 17 points, senior Stephanie Bowens and Dunne also scored in double-digits for Nazareth with 16 and 12 points respectively.

The Bombers had four players who scored in double figures. Erin Sanvidge recorded a game-high 18 points and seven assists followed by Erika Steele with 17 points. Katherine Bixby and Tracy Bradley each added 13 points in the victory for the Bombers.
