NY. (Jan. 19, 2007) -- Four Ithaca players scored
in double figures Friday as the host Bombers led
most of the way and defeated Nazareth in women's
basketball, 80-66.
Nazareth dropped to 5-9 overall and 1-2 in Empire
8 Conference games. Ithaca improved its record
to 6-8 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8. Nazareth
plays again Saturday at Elmira at 2 p.m. (WHTK-AM
1280 / www.whtk.com).
Ithaca led for much of the first half, but the
Golden Flyers led briefly, 30-27, on a three-point
basket by Sally Wilcox with seven minutes left.
The game was still tied at 38-38 following a basket
by Kelly Dunne with 2:05 left in the half, but
ithaca answered with a 7-2 scoring run to close
out the first half with a 45-40 lead.
The Bombers dominated the second half and extended
their lead to double digits before the second
half was six minutes old. Ithaca's Erin Sanvidge
scored eight of her 14 points in the second half
and Erika Steele grabbed nine of her 13 rebounds
to lift Ithaca.
Steele and teammate Sue Kelly each had 17 points
for Ithaca. Ketherine Bixby added 13 to go with
Sanvidge's 14.
Freshman Kelly Dunne (pictured) was Nazareth's
leading scorer with a career-high 19 points. Freshman
Jamie malloy also reached double figures with
