FREDONIA RALLIES TO EDGE NAZARETH, 65-61

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2006) -- Fredonia's Lisa Gentile had a game-high 23 points Thursday as the Blue Devils defeated host Nazareth a non-conference women's basketball game, 65-61.

The victory evened Fredonia's overall record at 4-4. The Golden Flyers are 2-3 overall and close out their first semester schedule at Cortland Friday at 7 p.m.

Nazareth led 48-42 following a pair of free throws by Ali Sharpe with 9:39 left in the game. Fredonia, however, rattled off the next 11 points -- nine by Gentile -- to take a 53-48 lead.

Nazareth came back to tie the score 59-59 on a free throw by Whitney Smith (pictured) with 1:31 to play, but Fredonia's Cheryl Kindzia made two free throws with :54 to play to put the Blue Devils on top to stay, 61-59.

Gentile's 23 points came on 9 for 12 shooting from the field, with a pair of three-pointers. She also grabbed eight rebounds. Kindzia finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford Mendon) added 13 points.

Nazareth got 16 points from Smith, who made three three-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds. Frreshman Kylie Bartlett (Solvay, NY) added nine points. Freshman Kelly Dunne and senior Stephanie Bowens each scored eight.
