N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2005) – Nazareth's woes in
women's basketball continued Friday as the Golden
Flyers lost their sixth straight game, falling
to Empire 8 rival Utica, 64-41.
Nazareth fell to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in conference
play. The Golden Flyers visit Hartwick Saturday
at 2 p.m. (WHTK-AM 1280).
A cold-shooting second half doomed the Golden
Flyers against Utica. Nazareth led for much of
the first half, before Utica rallied to tie the
score at 26-26 after 20 minutes. In the second
half, Nazareth made just 6 of 28 shots from the
field (21 percent) and was outscored 38-15. Nazareth
also was whistled for 30 turnovers and was outrebounded
40-29.
Sara Shipley and Ali Sharpe (pictured) each scored
10 points for the Golden Flyers. Shipley also
grabbed nine rebounds.
